My Thanksgiving dram of the evening is @shelterpoint brand new expression “Smoke Point.” This is a classic Shelter Point Single Grain Whisky finished for 8 months in ex-Laphroaig casks 😍. Non-chill filtered, no colour added and bottled a 55% ABV.
Colour: Rich Amber
Nose: Salted Toffee and Black Licorice. Wet Cedar Smoke.
Palate: Smooth, medicinal, Soft and salty smoke from a seaweed and driftwood beach fire.
Mouth Feel: Buttery
I paired this delicious dram with an amazing Turkey dinner prepared by my lovely mother in-law and a relaxing firepit with family and friends. However, I look forward to trying other pairings too.. Maybe fresh local oysters…
Shelter Point’s Smoke Point checks a lot of boxes for me and although they are great friends of mine and I’m a little biased.. They just keep knocking it out of the park with each expression they release. Their biggest problem is keeping it on the shelves!
